GENDER REVEALS
How to Plan a Gender Reveal Party in Zambia
A gender reveal is one of the happiest moments of a pregnancy. Here is how to plan one that runs smoothly, from the budget to the big reveal.

1. Decide who will know the gender
Someone must keep the secret before the party. Usually the parents ask the clinic to put the result in a sealed envelope, then hand it to a trusted person: a friend, a sibling or your event planner. That person prepares the reveal item so even the parents stay surprised.
2. Set a budget and a guest list
Decide how many guests you want and what you can spend before you choose anything else. Guest numbers drive the cost of the venue, food and décor.
At Halo, a Little Reveal Package starts from K7,500, the Grand Reveal Package from K13,500 and the Ultimate Reveal Package from K17,500. Catering, photography and similar extras are quoted separately. Packages can be adjusted to your guest numbers, venue, theme and budget.
3. Choose a venue and a date
A home garden, a hall or a lodge all work. Think about shade, power for music, space for games and a spot for photos. Book the date at least a week ahead for décor, and earlier for weekends.
4. Pick the reveal moment
Popular options are a box of balloons that releases pink or blue, confetti poppers, a cake that is cut open to show the colour inside, or a balloon pop. Ask your planner to match the moment to your venue: balloon boxes suit indoor spaces, and confetti is better outdoors.
5. Plan the games
Games keep guests busy and happy. Ideas include Team Pink vs Team Blue, baby prediction cards (guess the date, weight and name), and quick guessing games. Our Grand Reveal Package includes five interactive guest games with printed cards and basic props, and the Ultimate Reveal Package includes six or more games and a games host.
6. Style the space
Use pink and blue balloon garlands, a themed backdrop and a styled display table. Keep a photo corner ready, because guests will want pictures right after the reveal.
7. Run the day
A simple order works well: welcome and drinks, games, speeches, the reveal, then cake and photos. Appoint one person to start the music and one to take photos or video so the parents can enjoy the moment.
