Wedding Décor Checklist for Zambian Weddings

3 months before

• Fix the date and venue, then book your planner or décor team. We recommend about three months ahead, earlier for peak dates.
• Choose your colours and overall style.
• Pay the deposit. A 70% deposit confirms event bookings with Halo.

2 months before

• Choose the ceremony focal point: an arch, backdrop or floral frame.
• Choose reception styling: table centrepieces, cake table, gift table and backdrop.
• Decide on flowers, balloons and lighting.

1 month before

• Confirm guest numbers and table layout.
• Visit the venue with your planner to confirm set-up time and access.
• Order gifts for the bridal party and parents.

The week of

• Confirm times with every supplier.
• Prepare a contact sheet for the day.
• Agree on take-down, and who collects personal items.

Questions to ask your planner

• What is included in the quote and what is extra?
• Who sets up and when, and who takes down?
• What happens if a flower or colour is unavailable? (We substitute with similar items of equal or greater value.)
• Is travel included for venues outside Lusaka?
